Currently need a Payroll clerk, T2H, (converting to Paylocity)

We have Paula starting 6/2 for me to offload some of my work

Goal / path of the acct team is to replace Angelica – promoted 5/16 to controller yet they are not announcing this to the company just yet (not until they are ready to hire a sr. acct)

Team structure: currently have 2 staff, adding Paula, then PR (may hire A/R in near future too)

Just hired an HR person – offer is out, will meet with her upon her return from vacationPayroll – first time we will have payroll in house, separating from Reagan (PEO) and bringing PR and benefits in house.Most Critical Skills and Experience –

full cycle payroll – salary (monthly) and hourly (26-week payroll) – will be transitioning salary to 26 weeks payroll – need someone that has transitioned pay cycles

Job Title: Payroll Clerk

Reports to: Controller

Job Summary:

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll using Paylocity. This role plays a key part in ensuring payroll compliance, maintaining payroll records, and supporting the Controller with reporting and reconciliation tasks. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in using Paylocity to manage payroll functions.
Key Responsibilities:


  • Process all employee payrolls (bi-weekly/weekly/monthly, as applicable) through Paylocity, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Review and verify timekeeping records and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with managers and supervisors.

  • Maintain and update employee records in Paylocity, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, benefits deductions, and tax withholdings.

  • Generate and distribute payroll reports, earnings statements, and summaries for review by the Controller.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and company policies.

  • Address employee questions regarding pay, deductions, and timekeeping issues.

  • Assist in the preparation of year-end tax documents including W-2s and 1099s via Paylocity.

  • Coordinate with HR and accounting teams to ensure accurate benefit and deduction processing.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all payroll-related information.

  • Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll data and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience with direct Paylocity processing required.

  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and standard payroll practices.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a multi-state payroll environment.

  • Familiarity with Paylocity’s reporting and timekeeping modules.


Expected salary: $50000 - 55000 per year
