Who You Are

HomeLight, a fast-growing Series D company, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support end-to-end payroll operations across multiple entities. This role owns accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while partnering closely with HR and Finance. You’ll play a key role in maintaining payroll data integrity, supporting audits, and improving payroll efficiency in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do Here

Own end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. employees, including wages, taxes (federal, state, local), benefits, and garnishments

Ensure compliance with IRS regulations, FLSA, and state-specific labor laws

Manage payroll for St. Lucia–based employees, including PAYE, NIC, and statutory deductions; remain current on local labor laws

Manage payments and compliance for international contractors

Process terminations, final paychecks, incentives, gifts, and off-cycle payroll adjustments

Track leaves of absence to ensure accurate classification and pay treatment

Set up and manage employee garnishments and loans

Maintain employee and organizational data; review and approve employee-initiated changes

Monitor and respond to payroll-related inquiries

Perform payroll audits and reconciliations; identify and resolve discrepancies

Ensure accurate year-end reporting (W-2s, 1099s, and international equivalents)

Partner with HR and Finance on onboarding, offboarding, and payroll-related matters

Lead annual 401(k) audits and support payroll-related audits

Work with payroll systems to automate processes, troubleshoot issues, and support scalable operations

Monitor payroll tax law changes and review regulatory filings to mitigate compliance risk

Document and update payroll processes and procedures

What You Bring

Degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)

3–5 years of payroll experience supporting multi-entity, multi-state U.S. payroll and global contractors

FCP, APA, CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or equivalent certification required

Proficiency with Paylocity, Rippling, Cube, Deel or other similar HRIS or payroll processing systems

Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll tax regulations and international contractor compliance

Experience in a high-growth or rapidly changing environment

High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Clear, professional communicator able to explain payroll concepts to non-experts
