The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is seeking a Program Support Analyst to join their diverse team. This role involves performing complex analytical duties and providing staff assistance on sensitive departmental and program matters, contributing to large-scale health initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex and varied analytical duties
  • Provide staff assistance on sensitive departmental and program matters
  • Work independently and maintain working relationships with numerous internal and external partners
  • Evaluate OSP needs and provide recommendations to management
  • Collaborate closely with team members and internal/external partners to contribute to the successful implementation of large-scale initiatives

Skills

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate a high degree of initiative, independence and organization
  • Knowledge of current office methods and procedures with particular reference to the work done by the OSP
  • Experience supporting complex behavioral health programs, including overseeing data collection systems, developing or monitoring contracts and grants, and ensuring program or fiscal compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Knowledge of the public behavioral health system, including delivery systems and services
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of federal and state policies for Medicare and Medicaid
  • Ability to develop new processes and procedures for a new program area
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal/external stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to a changing environment; functioning effectively under demanding and competing deadlines and priorities
  • Ability to work on confidential and sensitive assignments and exercise a high degree of initiative, independence, sound judgment in performing assigned tasks
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt effective courses of actions and/or processes
  • Ability to conduct independent research and make recommendations to leadership
  • Knowledge and experience related to federal and state regulatory and legislative processes
  • Effective communication, business acumen, decision making, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use sound decision-making skills while working in a fast-paced work environment
