Role Summary
The Programme Director provides the interface between programme ownership and delivery and acts as a focal point between the business and the programme/project manager.

The programme director is the senior client-facing representative, acting as a point of contact for the customer exec, primarily focussed upon delivering a successful programme of works.

The Programme Director manages a portfolio of pathology and ICE implementation programmes and projects and is accountable for their efficiency and effectiveness through programme / project management process and tool improvements.

The Programme Director also helps drive business change across the senior pathology subject matter experts (SMEs) and project management function, coaching and mentoring key SMEs to lead and excel in their roles and help transform our operational execution processes and procedures.

To respond and contribute to key sales opportunities and commercial discussions on behalf of Professional Services.

To help lead and coordinate the operational inputs and programme shape, inputting into the wider sales process led by the commercial and new business teams.

In addition, this role acts as a driver of digital transformation, embedding data-driven decision-making, AI-enabled insights, and intelligent automation into programme delivery, operational processes, and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Management
Work with the other Programme Directors to standardise and continually improve on the core principles of project delivery based upon a Prince 2 methodology

Develop programme / project management process and tools to achieve target improvements aligned to objectives from the Professional Services Director

Help develop better supply chain and partner operational management processes

Facilitate quality activities of the programme, project, and Professional Services teams Programme planning, monitoring and oversight of all allocated projects

Monitor and manage the project portfolio and engage customer Senior Responsible Owners (SROs) within major client programmes

Qualify hand over from the sales team to commence programme / project initiation

Oversee delivery of projects in accordance with the contractual requirements

Support the Project Manager (PM)/Senior Project Manager (SPM) to coordinate activities between Clinisys and third parties as required within the scope of the project

Support the PM/SPM to ensure contract acceptance, sign off by the customer and appropriate project closure

Focus on customer satisfaction and ensuring delivery of the required quality of service or products to agreed standards

Monitors risks, issues and dependencies across programmes of work with relevant support provided to PMs as required

Proactively manage, address and close project escalations

Hold and attend regular internal and customer led programme/project meetings where senior representation is required

Support and advocate project and programme governance mechanisms

Motivate all members involved in key programmes to ensure they are completed on time, to the specified cost, quality, and performance criteria

Standardise and continuously improve delivery frameworks (PRINCE2 / MSP), enhanced with data-led governance and predictive insights

Leverage predictive analytics to anticipate delays, risks, and cost overruns

Introduce automated reporting and dashboards to improve portfolio visibility

Cross-functional Roles
Support the sales process with pricing, delivery presentations

Support the contracting process with input into contract drafting and templating

Provide leadership/guidance during incident management

Support Clinisys Executive in managing senior Exec level escalations

Translate delivery data into product improvement insights

Advocate for digital-first and AI-enabled delivery models

Support the product development life-cycle via
Contribution to operational readiness activities

Input into prioritisation of developments

Coordinate delivery of software developments delivered by the product team as necessary to deliver key programmes of work and influence pathology product strategy working in concert with the product management function

Financial
Work with the other Programme Directors, PMO Manager & Professional Services Director to standardise on the core principles of financial reporting and governance

Responsible for the ongoing financial performance and management of their portfolio

Tracks and reports financial status of projects to input into the UK P&L and programme profitability

Implement data-driven financial forecasting and margin optimisation models

Use analytics to identify profitability risks and efficiency opportunities

Line Management
Effectively coaches and mentors the team either as part of line management activities or under matrix management. Sets clear objectives and goals, provides actionable feedback, and trains the team to reach its fullest potential

Motivate the team to consistently deliver on time, within budget and to a high standard.

Where applicable, line manage team members ensuring correct management hygiene including but not limited to performance and development conversations, following standard HR line management process, succession planning, etc

Develop data literacy and AI awareness within teams

Upskill teams on digital tools, analytics, and automation

Lead organisational change towards data-driven ways of working

Communication
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders

Present to key senior client stakeholders and as needed at Clinisys company events (whether they are internal, client or potential clinically based)

Use real-time dashboards and KPI tracking

Ensure transparency through data-backed insights

General
To work with and follow the guidance of the Professional Services Director

To contribute to the team spirit within the company and to actively promote a customer-oriented approach

To progress personal development and encourage the development of other staff members with a particular focus on helping drive business change initiatives across the operational units

Establish if/how we can develop value added services to our customer base to help advise on best pathology practice and assist them in the execution of major pathology and ICE programmes

Perform other related duties as required or assigned by the Professional Services Director

Key Skills, Abilities and Experience
Ideally experienced in MS Project, Prince 2, and MSP

Leadership skills to manage project managers, consultants, and a portfolio of projects

Proven experience of coaching and mentoring a team and developing them to their full potential

Ability and willingness to take initiative toward driving key programmes to completion

Ability and willingness to work independently

Customer service skills and senior stakeholder engagement / management (up to Cxx) level

Ability to prioritise and work on multiple programmes and projects

Ability to create and deliver executive-level summary reports and presentations

Verbal and written communication skills; including communicating with technical and non-technical clients and staff at all organizational levels.

Demonstrable ability to influence and effect business change

Demonstrable track record of building and coaching teams of between 5-20 FTE

Strong consulting and advisory skills

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Demonstrable experience as programme / project manager or programme consultant preferably in the UK Health sector

Highly experienced in a programme / project management environment

Moderate experience within an IT or software provider organisation

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience providing the knowledge/skills/abilities listed above may be substituted.

Strong experience involved in execution of health care sector change programmes

Proven experience involved in execution of clinical change programmes and clinical systems implementations

Languages : Fluency in English is required. French, Dutch, and German are highly desirable.

AI / Data & Digital Skills
Understanding of AI/ML applications in programme delivery and operations

Experience using or interpreting data analytics and KPIs

Familiarity with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)

Exposure to automation tools and digital workflows

Awareness of data governance, privacy, and ethical AI principles

This role is home based with travel for customer meetings or company events.

Onboarding
As part of our onboarding process, all new employees will be required to attend / travel to the office on their first day of employment. This requirement is essential for onboarding activities, including the identity verification, completion of necessary documentation, receiving your IT equipment, introductions to key team members, and orientation to Clinisys policies and procedures.
