Python Engineer

Ciklum is looking for a Python Engineer to join our team full-time in Poland. We are a custom product engineering company that supports both multinational organizations and scaling startups to solve their most complex business challenges. About the role:
We are partnering with Client to significantly upgrade the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture of their AS Copilot system. Our goal is to drastically reduce AI hallucinations in code generation and optimize retrieval latency without re-architecting their existing platform. Responsibilities:
Serve as the core implementation engine for either the hybrid retrieval pipeline or grounding and citation mechanisms
Instrument the existing RAG pipeline and actively support the preparation of golden datasets
Implement hybrid retrieval features (BM25 + pgvector), adaptive context layers, and multi-turn prompt engineering
Ensure all AI components are delivered securely as Python source code directly into the client’s Azure DevOps environment
Pipeline Implementation: Build and deploy hybrid retrieval mechanisms, deeply integrating pgvector and BM25 search strategies into the existing infrastructure
Grounding & Integration: Implement robust grounding and citation modules, ensuring accurate claim-level attribution and regression testing
Testing & Regression: Develop end-to-end integration tests and support CI/CD regression harnesses to maintain strict KPI baselines
Collaboration: Work closely with Senior Engineers and Architects, actively participating in daily pair programming, joint backlog refinement, and sprint ceremonies
Optimization: Write clean, modular Python code focused on maintaining strict, sub-4.5s low-latency execution (P95 targets) within an enterprise environment
Requirements:
Background: Solid foundation in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related technical field, with proven practical ML engineering experience
Technical Stack: Highly proficient in Python.

Practical, hands-on experience with vector databases (specifically PostgreSQL and pgvector) and hybrid search strategies
AI/NLP Experience: Proven experience building and deploying Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and working closely with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI gpt-4o models)
Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with the Azure ecosystem (Azure OpenAI, Azure Machine Learning), Git version control, and CI/CD deployment pipelines
Testing & Quality: Experience writing robust unit and integration tests (e.g., pytest). Familiarity with LLM evaluation frameworks like RAGAS is a strong plus
Soft Skills: Proactive, collaborative team player comfortable working directly with client engineers in a fast-paced, embedded agile setup
