Remote Educational Interpreter - Illinois

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth and in-person educational support. This role provides ASL interpretation services for a 5th-grade student with a cochlear implant, ensuring effective communication within the school environment.

Location: Tinley Park, IL

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

Hours: 7:40 AM – 3:10 PM (22.5 hours per week) with lunch from 12:10 PM – 12:50 PM

Contract Duration: Immediate start through 05/22/26

Caseload: One student (small group and 1:1 support)

Key responsibilities include:
• Delivering clear and accurate ASL interpretation during instructional and telehealth sessions
• Facilitating communication between the student, educators, and other school personnel
• Adhering to ethical standards and confidentiality guidelines in educational settings
• Supporting the student’s learning experience by ensuring equal access to information

Preferred qualifications:
• RID Certification in Sign Language Interpretation
• EIPA rating of 3.5 or higher
• Ability to pass a clear background check
• Prior experience working with students who have hearing impairments, particularly those using cochlear implants
• Strong understanding of educational environments and telehealth platforms
