Freelance Retail / Experiential Designer

Remote, Flexible Location (Preferred: Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, New York, Portland)

Contract, 40hrs a week

Mon - Friday

Pay - $60-65/hr (w2, eligible for benefits)

Expected to start ASAP in May 2026

A global lifestyle brand is seeking a freelance designer with a strong background in tactile retail and experiential design to help translate seasonal brand campaigns into scalable, production-ready physical environments.

This role is focused on reinterpreting creative concepts into immersive in-store experiences, thinking through how seasonal campaigns come to life across retail, pop-ups, wholesale, and branded environments globally. The ideal candidate understands luxury retail storytelling, materiality, and how to create spaces customers can physically experience through texture, finishes, scale, and atmosphere.

What You’ll Do
• Scale and reinterpret seasonal campaign concepts into physical retail environments
• Translate brand vision into immersive in-store experiences and environmental design systems
• Write creative briefs and design direction for global agency partners to execute
• Partner closely with internal creative, retail, and experiential teams
• Develop rollout guidelines, toolkits, and scalable applications across markets
• Support prototyping, fabrication, materials, finishes, and production-ready execution
• Review and refine agency adaptations to ensure premium quality and brand consistency
• Bring a tactile, luxury look-and-feel to retail storytelling and shopper experience

What We’re Looking For
• 6–8+ years in retail design, experiential design, environmental design, or branded environments
• Strong portfolio featuring tactile retail experiences and premium/luxury physical environments
• Experience translating campaign concepts into scalable retail executions
• Strong understanding of materiality, fabrication, visual merchandising, and spatial storytelling
• Ability to think conceptually while executing within production realities
• Experience collaborating with global agencies and cross-functional teams
• Strong communication, organization, and presentation skills

• Figma

• Photoshop
• Miro
• 3D experience is a plus
• 3ds Max is a strong plus
