Senior Analyst, Tax (Hybrid) Open to Relocation

This role will provide opportunities to work with both income tax compliance and financial reporting in the life insurance industry. You will collaborate with other members of the tax team to successfully file our federal and state income returns. You will also assist in the measurement and disclosure of tax balances for our various GAAP and regulatory financial statements. Finally, you will be hands-on with special tax projects and tax research to ensure Protective complies with all regulatory and financial reporting standards and filing requirements.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and review federal and state tax returns. The tax team at Protective is responsible for the filing of federal and state tax returns. The filings include a consolidated federal life-nonlife return as well as various state combined, and separate company returns.
In addition to corporate income tax returns, you will also assist in the completion of insurance specific tax filings.
Prepare and review tax accruals and disclosures. You will work with the tax team and financial reporting to complete the tax information for various GAAP and statutory financial statements including regulatory statements for life insurance companies. The responsibilities include note disclosures and key tax numbers.
There is also limited international reporting around offshore reinsurance and Pillar II.
Tax research. You will work with the rest of tax team to determine the correct tax treatment for various complex tax areas. This includes both compliance and financial reporting related questions, as well as certain international tax questions.
Other tax projects.
You will work on other tax projects as needed. This will include tax work around derivative hedging, acquisitions and various life industry-specific items.
Knowledge, Skills, Attributes
Solid understanding of financial statement accounting
Knowledgeable with excel and other Microsoft products
Ability to collaborate and work effectively with a team
Experience with tax provision software a plus
Experience with OneSource products a plus
Requirements:
7+ years of accounting experience
Experience with corporate income tax returns
Experience with tax accounting and financial reporting
Experience with applying ASC 740
Experience leading and managing projects
Experience with regulatory accounting preferred
Accounting Degree
CPA
Protective's targeted salary range for this position is $75,000 to $125,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective's total compensation package for employees.
