Senior Director of Communications & PR

We’re looking for a strategic, creative, and results-driven Senior Director of Communications & PR to lead our external communications efforts. This leader will be responsible for crafting and executing a world-class communications strategy that builds Lemonade’s brand with diverse audiences, including customers, media, and investors.

What you’ll do

• Drive positive media coverage across national, international, and trade outlets—connecting Lemonade’s mission to the audiences that matter most

  Build and lead Lemonade’s annual PR & communications plan, ensuring alignment across product launches, brand milestones, and corporate initiatives

  Own and evolve the company’s external communications strategy, ensuring consistent messaging across press, customer, and investor channels

  Serve as a trusted voice and advisor to senior leadership on media, narrative development, and reputation management

  Cultivate strong relationships with journalists, analysts, and key media influencers

  Develop compelling messaging frameworks and press materials that reflect Lemonade’s values and voice

  Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders across the company to ensure cohesion and clarity in communication

  Lead crisis comms and reactive strategies with poise, discretion, and speed
  

• 10+ years of experience in public relations, communications, or journalism, preferably in high-growth, mission-driven consumer brands

  A proven track record of generating earned media coverage across top-tier outlets

  Experience owning comms strategies targeting both consumer and investor/stakeholder audiences

  Strong writing and editing chops—you know how to shape a narrative and make it sing

  Deep understanding of the modern media landscape, from traditional press to social channels

  Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising or related field

  Comfortable working with executives, managing complex processes, and delivering under tight deadlines

  Strategic mindset, with a bias for action and a passion for storytelling

  Experience managing PR agencies and budgets

  Ability to work in our NYC office 3 days per week

  Lemonade's US base salary range for this full-time position is $250,000 - $265,000 plus equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
