Senior Marketing Strategist
Remote, East Coast Hours · Full Time · Experienced • $90,000-$100,000
Hi, we're Big Human. We're a full-service creative agency. We work with the world's most interesting brands to bring their vision to life through technology, design, branding and growth.
Since 2010, we've produced 262 websites, 80 applications and 50 brands for 247 satisfied clients (Rockefeller Center, Gemini, Quinn and Netflix, to name just a few). And we've still found time for our own passion projects on the side (like HQ Trivia and Vine). As we continue expanding our marketing practice, we're hiring a Senior Marketing Strategist to own client marketing workstreams end-to-end from strategy through execution.
This is a high-autonomy role for someone who has already done this work, knows what good looks like, and doesn't need a north star handed to them. The role sits at the intersection of strategy, execution, editorial judgment, and client leadership. You'll translate business goals into clear marketing plans and drive them forward — week to week, initiative to initiative — without waiting to be told what to do next.
About the Role
At Big Human, we operate as a strategic growth partner to our clients, not an execution layer brought in for extra bandwidth. That means Marketing Strategists are responsible for identifying what will actually move the needle — and focusing efforts there. You will often be the primary owner of a client's marketing workstream, responsible for:
Designing the strategy
Managing execution across channels
Shaping content and creative direction
Leading client communication
Tracking performance and iterating
Leveraging and training AI
This is not a role for someone still building toward independent strategic ownership.
You've already led accounts, made hard prioritization calls, and shipped work without a senior editor looking over your shoulder. You know the difference between activity and impact (and you protect that distinction). What You'll Do
Strategy & Planning
Translate client goals (growth, revenue, engagement) into clear marketing strategies and execution plans
Develop GTM strategy for new and emerging products or initiatives
Take the first strategic pass when a project starts from scratch
Make clear trade-offs about what not to pursue, based on impact vs. effort
Ensure every initiative ladders back to defined goals and success metrics
Use AI tools to rapidly explore strategic directions, pressure-test plans, and move efficiently
Growth Ownership & Prioritization
Define clear goals and success metrics for each client and initiative
Continuously evaluate what's working, what's not, and where to double down
Reprioritize based on performance, new insights, or shifting client needs
Know when to say "no" or "not now" — and be able to explain why clearly
Break down strategy into weekly actions that drive measurable progress
Editorial Judgment & Content Direction
Shape and elevate AI-assisted content to ensure it's on-brand, strategic, and high-quality
Review and edit articles, emails, captions, and campaign copy with a strong editorial eye
Set the quality bar for content on your accounts
Provide clear, actionable feedback to content collaborators
Maintain voice, tone, and brand consistency across channels
Campaign Execution & Project Management
Own marketing initiatives end-to-end from kickoff through delivery
Build systems and content for social media and creative campaigns
Prepare weekly updates and campaign summaries for clients
Identify risks early and resolve them before they become problems
Creative & Partner Collaboration
Brief designers, producers, freelancers, and partner agencies clearly and effectively
Set expectations for deliverables, timelines, and success criteria
Ensure marketing assets meet both strategic and creative goals
Maintain strong communication across teams
Analytics & Insights
Track marketing performance across channels
Translate data into clear insights and next steps
Ensure campaigns evolve based on learnings
Client Leadership
Present marketing plans, campaign updates, and performance insights
Translate complex work into clear summaries and recommendations
Communicate priorities, trade-offs, and risks with confidence
Who You Are
You're a sharp, AI-forward marketing generalist who knows how to balance brand storytelling with growth and performance.
You're energized by varied, complex work — and you thrive when you're trusted with full ownership. You've already done this work. Specifically:
You've owned a client or brand relationship end-to-end, from strategy through delivery
You've built a GTM or campaign strategy from scratch
You've shipped marketing work without a senior strategist reviewing every decision
You've given content feedback that actually made the work better, not just different
You've told a client (or internal stakeholder) "no" or "not yet" — and held the line
Strategic Thinking
You think in outcomes, not deliverables
You focus on what moves the needle, not what fills the calendar
You make trade-offs confidently, even with imperfect information
You're not satisfied with simply shipping work; you care whether it worked
Editorial Taste
You have a strong sense of what good content looks like across formats and brands
You can edit AI-generated drafts efficiently and elevate them to a high quality bar
You adapt voice across brands without losing what makes each one distinct
Ownership & Execution
You manage your own workstreams without being managed
You're organized, proactive, and accountable
You maintain momentum and ensure work progresses week to week
AI & Modern Marketing
AI is already part of your daily workflow
You move from idea → draft → refined output efficiently
You apply judgment and taste to AI-assisted work (you're a skilled editor of it, not just a user of it)
Communication
You translate complexity into clarity
You make decisions confidently in ambiguous situations
You communicate priorities and risks without needing to be prompted
Bonus Points
Experience launching early-stage products or startups
Experience across multiple marketing disciplines (SEO/AEO, email, social, paid, content)
Experience building marketing systems or playbooks from scratch
Familiarity with Asana or similar project management tools
Experience mentoring or elevating junior team members
Who This Is Not For
Marketers who are still growing into independent strategic ownership
Candidates who need significant direction to move projects forward
People who are uncomfortable making decisions without consensus
Candidates without agency or fast-paced multi-client experience
What Success Looks Like
Your accounts run with minimal senior oversight — you own them, not just manage them
You set the quality bar for content on your accounts and enforce it
Priorities are clear, and low-impact work is deprioritized or eliminated
Marketing efforts result in measurable progress
