Role Summary and Purpose
Covering the South East and Thames Valley, to support Underwriting strategies for profitable business growth and retention by undertaking risk surveys and assisting the UK Survey Team Manager, as necessary, to manage the performance of the Regional Risk Control Team and promote to brokers and clients the risk management support services provided by Arch Insurance.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Undertake an appropriate number of risk surveys per annum in accordance with Company technical guidance, including production of reports and risk improvements within service standards.

Assist in the management, motivation and training development of the survey team in conjunction with the UK Survey Team Manager and Technical Manager – Risk Control to achieve high standards of technical competence and service performance.

Maintain personal knowledge and understanding of all relevant technical and legal issues and disseminate information as appropriate to ensure that the Risk Control Team and Underwriting Department are kept well informed on risk management developments.

Assist in conducting audits of reporting Risk Surveyors to ensure that technical standards are maintained, and development training needs identified.

Work collaboratively with other parts of the organisation and lead initiatives to enhance risk management services and market reputation.

Skills / Competencies
Knowledge and understanding of the Company’s business Underwriting Strategy and the role of the Risk Control Team in helping to deliver this

Technical knowledge and experience of a broad range of manufacturing, distribution, leisure and service trades

Knowledge and understanding of disciplines relevant to the identification, evaluation and control of insurable risk exposures including fire, perils, business interruption, theft/security and liabilities

Time management, prioritisation and delegation skills

Good communication, negotiation and closing skills

Training/coaching and presentation skills

Competent in use of MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

Driving Licence

Qualifications
Chartered Insurance Institute: CIP/ACII

Institute of Risk Management: CMIRM

NEBOSH:  Certificate/Diploma or equivalent

Experience
10+ years of surveying a broad spectrum of manufacturing, distribution, leisure and service trades.

Previous experience of delivering training and/or presentations to internal and external audiences.
