We are looking for dynamic, curious, motivated, and self-starting Senior Sales Engineer to join our growing team in the DACH region. The Sales Engineer is responsible for pre-sales technical engagements with our customers, delivering compelling presentations and building aligned network designs, pivoting between credible technical discussion and distilling technical concepts into simple business language while reinforcing the Calix value proposition. In this role, you will interact with and influence senior technical staff and business management within Calix’s broadband service provider customers.

You will provide demonstrations of Calix’s product capabilities and assist with lab and field trials. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, experience in a pre-sales position, and confidence in both technical and business forums.

Responsibilities:

Positioning and selling Calix FTTH and in-home networking products and solutions

Assist in the preparation of RFx responses

Deliver technical sales-oriented presentations to customer's technical staff and senior management

Understand business requirements involved with technical account strategy

Assist customers and resellers in configuring and testing products and networks in lab and field trials

Provide leadership and guide customers on technical and operational issues within areas of expertise

Work with customers to design and architect network solutions to their applications needs

Deep understanding of the product portfolio to apply the best solutions

Influence decisions and adept at simplifying our Calix technology concepts

Research and stay up to date on the most recent industry standards and trends

Capture, articulate, and prioritize customer requirements and share with Calix Product Management

Travel expectations: In region travel up to 50% on average required to support customer engagements

Qualifications:

MSc/BSEE/BSCS desired

Strong background and experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 Access network architectures

Strong background and experience with FTTx Fiber based Access solutions

Strong background and experience with WAN services, PON and Ethernet based architectures

Knowledge with various routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS), transport functions (L2/3 VPN) and subscriber management/BNG

Ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to L2/L3 deployment architectures and methodologies

Understanding of SaaS and SDN based technologies

Experience partnering with cross-functional teams on continuous improvement in product, education, training, testing methods, and demos

Strong interpersonal skills, a proven track record of synthesizing and interpreting complex issues into solutions and the ability to effectively work with multiple audiences and levels across organizations

Excellent presentation and written communication skills

Additional Considerations:

Experience in the Broadband Service Provider industry in Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Knowledge of operational support systems and understanding interactions with APIs (REST/JSON) including design, integration, and troubleshooting

Understanding of network security methodologies, including but not limited to ACLs, Stateful firewalls, VPNs (tunneling, IPsec, PPTP, etc.)

Working knowledge of network management and orchestration platforms

Technical familiarity with Wi-Fi systems
