Senior Solutions Architect

WunderGraph was founded to solve a problem developers (and not just) experience daily. Managing APIs, integrating them, and making them accessible to large audiences is difficult. And evolving those APIs? Even more so!

Meanwhile, AI and LLMs are taking the world by storm, making it even more important for organizations to have their "API ducks in a row" to be AI-ready.

With more than $10M in funding from Karma Ventures, Aspenwood, and eBay Ventures, we're in a great position to deliver on our mission. A single place to design, build and innovate on APIs as the backbone of every modern business. Money, goods and services are exchanged in real time through APIs. Our entire society builds on fast data exchange and integrations, all backed by APIs.

The culture we are creating together is extremely important to us. Read here how we are Building the Company We Always Wanted to Work In.

We invite everyone that wants to join us to understand our Core Beliefs and if you want to make an impact, have your voice heard, and work in a no-BS organization where you can get stuff done, look no further and apply today so we can chat.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You are a technical expert who thrives at the intersection of technology and business value. Whether it's architecting a complex API integration, running a compelling demo, or designing a proof-of-concept that makes engineers say "wow," you've mastered the art of turning technical complexity into customer confidence. You love the challenge of greenfield opportunities and building something from the ground up.

This isn't your typical Solutions Architect role. As the first-to-funtion, you're at the front lines of WunderGraph's go-to-market motion. You're the technical voice that helps potential clients see what's possible. The trusted advisor who guides them from "interesting idea" to "let's build this," and the bridge between our product and our customers' real-world challenges.

You know how to navigate technical stakeholders from senior engineers to CTOs, selling on value and building credibility across complex evaluation cycles. You can balance technical demos with POC implementations and requirements gathering with competitive positioning. You can write code when needed, review architectures with confidence, and in time and with training explain API federation to a developer or a VP of Engineering with equal clarity. Most importantly, you care deeply about the customer, their technical challenges, and how WunderGraph can uniquely solve them.

ROLE OBJECTIVES

You are succeeding if:

You demonstrate ownership and drive the pre-sales function forward

You're enabling the sales team to consistently hit and exceed revenue targets through exceptional technical support

Technical evaluations are running smoothly - POCs demonstrate clear value, objections get handled with confidence, and prospects are excited about what they can build

You're building trusted, engineer-to-engineer relationships where customers see you as their advocate, not just a vendor

Product and Engineering teams are benefiting from your customer insights - feature requests are well-documented, competitive intelligence is flowing, and you're shaping the roadmap

We're seeing predictable conversion from evaluation to purchase, with repeatable patterns you've helped establish

Our demo environment, reference architectures, and technical collateral reflect your contributions and are accelerating deals

You're representing WunderGraph with technical credibility that instills confidence in prospects

Follow the client’s journey post-sales. The solutions you create will support our clients throughout their adoption journey and will be a part of their architecture, so follow-through is key to ensure we recognise where we can bring more value.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Proven senior experience in a Pre-Sales Architecture, Sales Engineering, or similar customer-facing technical role at a B2B SaaS company (developer tools, API platforms, or infrastructure products strongly preferred)

Proven track record of supporting deals $100K+ with mid-market or enterprise technical buyers

Strong hands-on technical background - you can write code, build prototypes, review architectures, and debug issues. Comfort with TypeScript, Node.js, Go, or similar backend technologies is a plus

Deep experience with modern API technologies and distributed systems architecture

Solid understanding of cloud-native development (Kubernetes, Docker, containers, CI/CD, microservices)

Exceptional communication skills - you're clear, confident, and credible whether you're talking to a senior engineer or a CTO

Experience working closely with sales teams, understanding deal cycles, and contributing to revenue outcomes

You're organized, detail-oriented, and can manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously without dropping the ball

You're energized by early-stage environments, comfortable with ambiguity, and excited to build processes where none exist

Bonus: Experience with GraphQL, federated graphs or API composition

TEAM INTEGRATION

You report to the VP of Sales with close collaboration with the CEO and CTO

You collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to communicate customer feedback, influence roadmap, and contribute to platform improvements

You act as a bridge between customer technical needs and product value delivery

You help shape and scale the pre-sales function alongside leadership
