About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and commercially minded Stock Manager to oversee inventory operations within a fast-paced hair and beauty environment. This role is responsible for managing stock budgets, forecasting inventory requirements, maintaining accurate stock control processes, and ensuring seamless product availability across retail and professional-use ranges.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience within the hair, beauty, cosmetics, or salon industry, with a deep understanding of high-volume product management, supplier coordination, and inventory optimisation.

Ideal Profile

Industry Experience

Minimum 2–3 years of experience in stock or inventory management within hair & beauty, cosmetics, salon, retail, or wholesale environments

Strong understanding of professional and retail hair & beauty product ranges

Experience managing high-volume inventory and product turnover

Knowledge of salon operations, colour systems, and usage patterns preferred

Technical & Analytical Skills

Proven ability to manage stock budgets and maintain cost controls

Strong reconciliation and reporting capabilities

Proficiency with inventory management systems, POS platforms, and Microsoft Excel

Ability to analyse sales trends, stock movement, and product performance data

Communication & Coordination

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Strong supplier negotiation and stakeholder management abilities

Ability to collaborate effectively with salon teams, retail staff, finance, and procurement functions

High attention to detail with a proactive problem-solving approach

Qualifications

Relevant qualification in Business, Supply Chain, Retail Management, or a related field is advantageous

Responsibilities

Stock Budgeting & Financial Control

Develop and manage stock budgets aligned with business targets and seasonal demand

Monitor inventory expenditure to ensure alignment with approved budgets

Analyse product performance, margins, and slow-moving stock

Prepare reports on stock valuation, cost control, and financial variances

Stock Ordering & Supplier Management

Forecast inventory requirements based on sales trends, promotions, and operational needs

Manage ordering of retail and professional-use hair and beauty products

Build and maintain strong supplier and distributor relationships

Negotiate pricing, rebates, and supply terms where applicable

Track deliveries and resolve shipment or supply-related issues

Inventory Control & Stock Management

Maintain accurate stock records across inventory systems and POS platforms

Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages, overstocking, or expired inventory

Implement effective stock control procedures to minimise shrinkage and waste

Communicate directly with salons and internal teams regarding stock updates and deliveries

Stock Auditing & Reconciliation

Conduct regular stocktakes and cycle counts

Reconcile physical stock against system records and investigate discrepancies

Perform invoice reconciliation against purchase orders and deliveries

Identify and resolve stock variances, damages, and losses

Reporting & Analysis

Generate reports on stock movement, usage, and inventory turnover

Analyse seasonal trends and best-selling products within the hair and beauty sector

Provide recommendations to optimise stock mix and inventory performance

Support business decisions relating to product ranges and promotional planning

Team Support & Coordination

Collaborate with salon managers, stylists, retail teams, finance, and procurement departments

Support staff education on stock control procedures and waste minimisation

Ensure smooth coordination between operational and inventory functions

Compliance & Process Improvement

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and cosmetic product handling standards

Maintain proper storage and handling procedures for salon chemicals and products

Identify opportunities to improve stock systems and operational efficiencies

Assist with inventory software and POS system enhancements

Additional Responsibilities

Manage discontinued, obsolete, and slow-moving stock

Support seasonal campaigns, product launches, and promotional activities

Contribute to supplier reviews and stock optimisation strategies
