General Dynamics Mission Systems is a leader in high technology solutions for defense and scientific arenas. They are seeking an entry-level software engineer to design and develop applications for unmanned undersea vehicles, working on the full life cycle of software systems.

Responsibilities

  • As a software engineer for General Dynamics Mission Systems in Quincy, MA, you’ll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for designing and developing state-of-the-art applications for unmanned undersea vehicles
  • You will work on software encompassing the full life cycle of these systems, from embedded control code to GUI-based topside tools for planning and monitoring missions

Skills

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
  • Agile experience preferred
  • Excellent programming skills, specifically in C++
  • User interface Web Development experience is a plus
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a development team
  • Linux and Windows experience is highly desirable; hardware experience is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Clear understanding of the software engineering concepts, principles, theories, software development process, and agile methodology
  • Creative and organized thinker capable of applying new information quickly to solve challenging problems
  • Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and handle increasing responsibilities with growing complexity
