The Role:

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead and grow our commerce-focused engineering organization. While Shopify experience is a plus, your core responsibility will be to scale, support, and structure our large, distributed engineering team. You’ll directly manage 50+ engineers and designers across North America and LATAM, and play a critical role in helping us grow to 100+ team members in the coming year.

This role is not client-facing or delivery-focused. It’s a people-first leadership position that sits at the intersection of engineering operations, recruiting, and organizational scaling. You’ll work closely with our recruiting team to help align hiring with upcoming demand, bridging sales projections with resourcing strategy to support business growth.

What You’ll Do:

Manage & Mentor: Lead and support a high-performing team of 50+ engineers and designers, ensuring team health, engagement, and growth

Upskill Talent: Oversee internal “bench” projects to help engineers deepen Shopify and full-stack skills between client work

Scale the Org: Help grow the engineering team to 100+ by building scalable systems, structure, and culture

Bridge Sales & Hiring: Work closely with the recruiting team to align incoming sales pipeline with hiring velocity and role requirements

Resource Allocation: Strategically assign engineers to projects based on skillsets, availability, and development goals

Hiring & Onboarding: Lead interviewing, hiring, and onboarding to ensure high-quality, fast-growing team additions

Performance & Compensation: Run regular performance reviews, compensation adjustments, and individual development plans

Cross-regional Team Management: Oversee both North American and nearshore (LATAM) pods to maintain a unified culture and delivery readiness

What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience managing large engineering/design teams (30+ people; ideally 50–100)

Strong background working with enterprise-level clients or projects

Ability to create scalable systems for growth, performance, and engagement

Experience partnering with recruiting or sales teams to support business growth and hiring alignment

Familiarity with distributed and multicultural team dynamics

Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a high degree of autonomy

Nice to Have:

Experience in the Shopify ecosystem or modern e-commerce platforms

Background in a consulting agency, product studio, or digital services company

Experience managing both engineers and designers

Familiarity with nearshore markets (e.g., LATAM talent pipelines)
