The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest agencies in the state, responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of North Carolinians. The Staff Development Specialist I will develop and conduct training programs for individuals who are blind and visually impaired, enabling them to achieve independence and employment goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and conducts initial training for the potential Business Enterprises (BE) operators
  • Provides ongoing skill-building training for licensed operators throughout the state
  • Development of training curricula and related materials
  • Evaluation of the training curriculum and format for effectiveness
  • Responding to requests to assist individual operators in identified problem areas
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts in-service training for Division staff in the BE Program

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution
  • One year of experience in a progressive training or teaching role
  • One year of experience in a human service, counseling, or training program in the subject matter specified
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively deliver competency‑based training
  • Skilled in providing food‑service instruction
