Student Assistant, Quality Assurance

We are seeking a Student Assistant to join the Foundation in its mission of benefitting, supporting, and enhancing the California Community Colleges—the largest and most diverse system of higher education in the nation. What You’ll Do
The Student Assistant, Quality Assurance (QA) will support the work of the Technology Solutions team at FoundationCCC, contributing to the quality and reliability of systems that serve California Community College students.
This position provides hands-on experience in software testing, quality assurance practices, and collaborative product development. The Student Assistant will contribute to projects focused on improving student-facing technology, internal tools, and digital services that support access to education and public-benefit programs. QA efforts directly support the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and equitable technology solutions across the California Community Colleges system.
The role is designed to balance meaningful project contributions with structured learning and professional development.
Assist in testing web applications, platforms, and digital tools to ensure functionality, usability, and performance meet quality standards
Execute test cases (manual and/or automated) and document results clearly and accurately
Identify, document, and track bugs or issues using tools such as JIRA or other ticketing systems
Collaborate with developers, designers, and product teams to reproduce issues and verify fixes
Support the creation and maintenance of test plans, test cases, and QA documentation
Participate in sprint activities, including planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
Support QA operations (test documentation, regression testing, release validation) to ensure smooth product delivery
Learn and apply QA methodologies, including functional, usability, and regression testing
Contribute to team efforts by completing additional assignments and collaborating on complementary project teams
Attributes for Success
Currently or previously enrolled in a California Community College
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, and other collaboration tools
Experience managing tasks, deadlines, or projects (academic, work, or personal)
Basic familiarity with web applications or software systems (as a user, student, or creator)
Coursework or demonstrated interest in computer science, information systems, software engineering, or related fields
Familiarity with QA concepts such as test cases, bug tracking, or software testing processes
Familiarity with Agile development practices
Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
Experience with or interest in test automation tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, and other collaboration tools
Experience with Atlassian products (JIRA, Confluence, Product Discovery, Service Desk); JIRA for task tracking preferred

Budgeted Hourly Pay Range:
Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.
