Technical Data Analyst
New Jersey Resources is a Fortune 1000 diversified energy company focused on pursuing a reliable, sustainable energy future. The Technical Data Analyst will play a critical role in developing data pipelines and delivering high-quality analytics and reporting to support operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries to support operational, financial, and performance reporting
- Build and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards, datasets, data models, and DAX measures for operational insights
- Support and enhance data pipelines integrating third‑party APIs and external systems into the data warehouse, including authentication, extraction logic, and data structuring
- Conduct data validation, reconciliation, and audits across enterprise systems such as Maximo, JDE, IFS/MWM, SAP, and Dayforce
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, data discrepancies, performance issues, and opportunities for operational improvement
- Troubleshoot data integrity issues and ensure accuracy of operational metrics and KPIs
- Monitor data pipelines and integration logs to ensure reliable data flow across enterprise platforms
- Document data definitions, table relationships, workflows, and reporting logic to support transparency and maintainability
- Support forecasting, planning, and scenario modeling through advanced analytics and data modeling
- Provide technical guidance to enhance operational workflows, system utilization, and data‑driven decision‑making
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in SQL (DB2, SQL Server, or similar), including writing, debugging, and optimizing complex queries
- Demonstrated experience developing Power BI dashboards, including data modeling, Power Query, and DAX
- Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON structures, and integrating external data sources into a data warehouse
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical troubleshooting skills
- Solid understanding of relational databases, data modeling concepts, and enterprise data flows
- Ability to manage multiple tasks independently in a fast‑paced environment
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional partners across Field Operations, Engineering, and IT
- Ability to document data definitions, logic rules, metrics, process flows, and reporting standards
- Experience working in data analytics, technical reporting, or business intelligence roles
- Hands-on experience with IBM Maximo and familiarity with its data structures and workflows
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines, API integrations, and BI solutions
- Experience using Python for automation, data processing, or analytics. Familiarity with Azure data services
- Background or coursework in Data Science, Business Intelligence, or Data Analytics
