Trailer Editor Needed – Indie Horror Feature (Ghost Light)

Full-time

We’re looking for an experienced editor to create a maximum 2-minute trailer for an indie feature film, Ghost Light — a supernatural slasher set in a haunted theater.

The tone is key: this is a retro ’80s-inspired horror with subtle satire, not broad comedy and not modern “prestige horror.” We’re aiming for something that feels like a lost VHS-era trailer — atmospheric, pulpy, and sincere on the surface, with just enough heightened edge.

Tone references include Stage Fright, Hell Night, and The Fog.

Scope

• Edit a main trailer (max 2:00)

• Potentially create 1–2 short versions (30–60 sec)

• Work from provided footage and shape structure, pacing, and tone

• Incorporate basic text cards / titles as needed

• 1–3 rounds of revisions

What We’re Looking For

• Strong trailer or narrative editing experience

• Excellent sense of pacing, tension, and tone

• Ability to play material straight without tipping into parody

• Good instincts for music and sound-driven storytelling

• Editors who understand subtle, intentional “retro” rather than making something look accidentally low-quality

Deliverables

• Final trailer (≤ 2 minutes)

• Optional short cuts (if included in scope)

• Project files + exports

To Apply — Please include:

• Portfolio (trailers or relevant work preferred)

• A short note on how you’d approach tone for this project

• Your rate and availability

• When applying, please include the word “VHS” so we know you read the full post

Important — We are not looking for a slick, modern horror trailer. If your instinct is to cut this like a fast-paced, highly polished contemporary trailer, this likely isn’t the right fit.
