Crimson Education is a Series C, global EdTech startup founded in 2013 with the idea that through personalized education and technology, we can transform students into the world leaders of tomorrow. We’re now in 28 markets and have an ambitious team of 700 that’s rapidly expanding across the globe. Our tech platform connects 3000 tutors/mentors to students aiming to achieve admission and scholarships to top universities or their dream career pathway.

The UK FAO Application Reviewer at Crimson Education is responsible for delivering rigorous, Oxbridge-major–specific written application reviews that mirror real admissions evaluation standards. This role goes beyond personal statement feedback: reviewers assess the entire written application package—including UCAS, My Cambridge Application (where applicable), admissions test performance, academic attainment and (where applicable) written work—against course-specific admissions criteria. Each FAO Reviewer operates within a defined academic discipline (e.g.

Natural Sciences, Engineering, PPE, Law, Medicine) to ensure deep subject alignment, consistency, and quality. This role is critical to maintaining Crimson’s credibility as a provider of the most realistic Oxbridge admissions preparation available. This position is open only to individuals with direct admissions decision-making experience, ideally at Oxford or Cambridge, and exceptionally at top Russell Group universities.

This is a contracted, ad hoc part-time position. What are the main responsibilities for this role? Application Evaluation & Reporting
Conduct comprehensive, structured reviews of:
UCAS application

My Cambridge Application

Admissions test performance (UCAT, LNAT, ESAT, TMUA, TARA)

Academic attainment and trajectory

Admissions test readiness and benchmarking

Subject engagement and intellectual curiosity

Personal statement effectiveness (content, structure, academic focus)

Produce a detailed, offline written report that:
Reflects how an admissions tutor would realistically assess the application

Clearly identifies strengths, weaknesses, and likelihood of competitiveness

Provides actionable, prioritised recommendations for improvement

Subject & Admissions Expertise
Apply course-level knowledge of Oxbridge admissions criteria rather than general UK admissions advice

Stay current on:
Annual Oxbridge admissions changes

Course-specific selection criteria

Admissions test updates and scoring expectations

Ensure feedback is aligned with Crimson’s Oxbridge FAO quality standards

Service Delivery & Professional Standards
Deliver reviews within defined seasonal timelines

Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism with all student materials

Participate in Crimson FAO calibration, training, and quality assurance processes

Advanced degree required

Core Competencies
Exceptional analytical and written communication skills

Ability to provide precise, candid, and constructive feedback

Strong attention to detail and consistency across evaluations
