BIG PICTURE:

Dhar Mann Studios is seeking a highly organized and proactive VFX Coordinator to join our dynamic Post-production team. The VFX Coordinator will be instrumental in managing all aspects of our visual effects pipeline, from initial conceptualization and scoping to final delivery and quality control. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment, ensuring seamless integration of VFX into our high-volume narrative content.

 HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME:

VFX Scoping & Planning:

Collaborate closely with directors, producers, and editors during pre-production and production to identify and assess VFX needs for each project

Break down scripts and storyboards to accurately scope the complexity, volume, and timeline for all required VFX shots

Develop detailed VFX breakdowns, shot lists, and specifications

Research and propose creative solutions for ambitious VFX requirements, including but not limited to: screen replacements, background extensions/replacements, car composites, fire effects, environmental enhancements, and other narrative-driven visual effects

Resource Allocation & Vendor Management:

Assist in identifying, vetting, and onboarding suitable VFX vendors and freelance artists based on project needs and budget

Allocate VFX tasks efficiently to internal and external resources, considering expertise, availability, and cost-effectiveness

Report on department metrics on a monthly basis: including VFX type and quantity per month, so post can make informed data-based operational and budgetary decisions 

Manage and track vendor bids, contracts, and invoices in coordination with the production team when necessary

Production & Execution Oversight:

Act as the primary point of contact between the editorial team, directors, and VFX artists/vendors

Facilitate the smooth exchange of assets (plates, reference, notes, etc.) between editorial, production, and VFX teams

Monitor the progress of all VFX shots, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are upheld

Proactively identify and resolve potential roadblocks or issues in the VFX pipeline

Organize and lead VFX review sessions, meticulously tracking feedback and ensuring notes are clearly communicated and addressed

Quality Control (QC):

Conduct thorough quality control checks on all delivered VFX shots to ensure technical accuracy, creative alignment, and seamless integration with live-action footage

Verify consistency in color, lighting, tracking, and overall aesthetic

Ensure all deliverables meet the required resolution, frame rate, and file specifications

Documentation & Archiving:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all VFX assets, versions, and project status

Organize and manage the archiving of all completed VFX elements and projects for future use and reference

Contribute to the development and refinement of VFX best practices and workflows for the studio

WHAT YOU HAVE:

Experience working with remote teams and vendors

Experience with high-volume content creation

Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Animation, Visual Effects, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a VFX Coordinator or similar role in a fast-paced production environment, preferably with experience in scripted narrative content

Strong understanding of the visual effects pipeline from pre-production through final delivery

Familiarity with various VFX techniques and software (e.g., Nuke, After Effects, Mocha, Maya, 3ds Max, DaVinci Resolve Fusion, etc.). While not a hands-on artist role, an understanding of the technical challenges is crucial

Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Monday.com, Google Workspace, Trello,ShotGrid/Shotgun, Airtable) is a plus

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, English fluency with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively under tight deadlines

A proactive problem-solver with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

Passion for storytelling and a keen eye for visual aesthetics

Bonus Points:

Understanding of digital asset management (DAM) systems.

The Freelance VFX Coordinator will report directly to the Heads of Post
