Vice President, Pricing, Trade & Value Communications
The Vice President, Pricing, Trade & Value Communications is a critical senior leader responsible for building and executing an integrated market access strategy as the company prepares for its first commercial launch, pending FDA approval. This role will define and operationalize capabilities across pricing and contracting, trade and distribution, and value communications to enable successful product introduction and long-term access.
This leader will play a foundational role in shaping a best-in-class, innovative Market Access function within a pre-commercial biotech environment. The VP will work cross-functionally to ensure the organization is positioned to deliver differentiated value to patients, providers, and payers while driving sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Pricing & Contracting Strategy
Lead the development of U.S. pricing strategy, including launch pricing, scenario modeling, and lifecycle management
Design and execute payer contracting strategies across Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid channels ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations
Lead planning for payer contract negotiations, including the development of contracting frameworks, rebate structures, and performance-based agreements across commercial and government channels
Develop pre and post deal analytics to support highly effective contract processes
Build foundational gross-to-net forecasting capabilities and pricing governance processes
Partner with Finance and within Commercial to ensure alignment with enterprise financial objectives
Lead MFN and IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) readiness planning, including Medicare Drug Price Negotiation scenario analysis and strategic response
Develop and manage government pricing calculations (Medicaid Best Price, AMP, ASP) and ensure compliance with government pricing obligations
Build and maintain robust financial models to evaluate pricing scenarios, contracting trade-offs, and gross-to-net impacts across the product portfolio
Trade & Distribution
Design and stand up the company’s trade and distribution model from the ground up, including specialty pharmacy, specialty distributor, and wholesaler strategies
Establish key channel partnerships and negotiate distribution agreements
Ensure product availability, channel efficiency, and alignment with patient access and adherence goals
Partner closely with Supply Chain to enable seamless product flow for launch readiness
Manage 3PL relationships and ensure robust data flows for inventory visibility, demand forecasting, and compliance reporting
Value Communications
Develop and lead a compelling, evidence-based value narrative to support payer access and differentiation
Oversee creation of AMCP dossiers, value stories, and payer tools (e.g., budget impact models)
Partner with Medical Affairs and HEOR to translate clinical and economic data into clear, impactful messaging
Equip field access teams with tools, training, and resources to effectively communicate product value
Lead early payer advisory boards and engagement programs to inform development and launch strategy
Market Access Innovation
Leverage data, analytics, and digital tools to enhance payer engagement and optimize access strategy
Challenge traditional approaches to pricing and access by developing forward-looking, patient-centric solutions
Monitor evolving payer and policy landscapes to proactively position the organization for competitive advantage
Leadership & Build
Build and lead a high-performing, scalable team across pricing, trade, and value communications
Establish foundational processes, governance, and operating models to support a growing commercial organization
Serve as a key member of the Market Access leadership team, contributing to overall strategy and decision-making
Drive strong cross-functional collaboration across Commercial, Medical, Regulatory, Finance, and Legal
Payer & Policy Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with key national accounts in support of the National Account team
Engage with CMS and other government stakeholders as needed to support market access strategy execution
Monitor federal and state legislative developments (e.g., drug pricing reform, Medicaid policy) and develop strategies to mitigate access risk on coverage, reimbursement, and policy matters and regional payers, PBMs, IDNs, and GPOs to secure formulary access and favorable coverage
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PharmD, PhD) strongly preferred
15+ years of progressive experience in Market Access, including pricing, contracting, trade, payor strategy, or related functions within a biotech or pharmaceutical industry, including 5 years in a leadership role
Demonstrated success in launching new products within the pharmaceutical industry
Experience building capabilities in a pre-commercial or high-growth organization strongly preferred
Experience leading teams in the design and execution of outcomes-based or value-based contracting arrangements preferred
Deep understanding of U.S. payer market landscape, pricing frameworks, and trade operations
Demonstrated success in negotiating complex payer contracts and securing favorable access for patients and reimbursement
Proven ability to lead teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders at all levels of the organization, in particular, senior levels
Strong strategic, analytical, and financial acumen
Proven executive presence, communication and cross functional collaboration skills
Familiarity with IRA implementation and government pricing compliance
Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and lead specialized teams across pricing, trade, and value communications functions within a pre-commercial or high-growth biotech
Deep understanding of specialty pharmacy, distributor, and wholesaler channel dynamics, with experience leading trade operations teams responsible for channel management and 3PL oversight
Ability to partner effectively with Medical Affairs and HEOR teams to shape evidence generation strategies and translate clinical and economic data into compelling payer value narratives
Working knowledge of federal and state pricing regulations sufficient to provide strategic oversight of compliance obligations related to Medicaid, Medicare, and government pricing reporting
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; adaptable, diplomatic, and able to navigate ambiguity
Located in the Northeastern U.S.; remote-based role with travel based on work assignment
