<div>This is part-time seasonal general maintenance work in park maintenance, forestry maintenance and/or golf course maintenance activities. As work experience is gained, employees may be assigned to somewhat more difficult tasks. Work is performed under the direction of a supervisor who issues general instructions for routine jobs and specific instructions at the beginning of each new job when departures are made from established procedures.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>THIS IS A LIMITED PART-TIME POSITION<br>The day and hours for this position: varies </strong></div><div><br></div><div><strong>Bargaining Unit: No Union Representation</strong></div><div><br></div><div><strong>**Posting may come down at anytime**</strong></div><ul><li>Mowing, trimming and other duties related to turf care.<li>Trash pick around athletic fields, parks and ROW.<li>Loads and unloads stone, gravel, dirt, timber, leaves, and similar items.<li>Assists skilled and semiskilled workers in varied park maintenance, golf maintenance and other repair activities.<li>Shovels snow and breaks ice from streets and walks and loads snow on trucks or piles it in designated places.<li>Waters lawns, trims shrubs and trees, spades, rakes, and otherwise prepares ground and assists in related ground maintenance work.<li>Waters, spreads fertilizer, and cares for flowers, shrubs and trees as directed.<li>These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive.<li>Other job-related duties may be assigned as needed.</ul><ul><li>Ability to acquire within a reasonable period of time, knowledge of the procedures, tools, equipment and materials used in maintenance work<li>Ability to follow simple oral or written instructions<li>Ability to work outdoors when inclement weather conditions exist<li>Ability to shovel, snow, sand, gravel, to or from dump truck bed<li>Ability to safely operate mowing tractor over rough terrain for several hours at a time<li>Ability to tolerate airborne nuisances associated with open grounds and windy conditions<li>Ability to lift and carry bulky items weighing up to 50 pounds<li>Ability to be continuously performing tasks that require one to push, pull, climb (ladders and in and out of vehicular equipment), bend, twist, reach, stand, and walk about (up to a half mile at a time) for most of an eight hour shift<li>Ability to communicate effectively<li>An employee shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.</ul><div><strong>Required Experience and Training</strong></div><br><ul id="isPasted"><li><div>Must be at least 16 years of age or older.</div></li><li><div><span>Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship. </span></div></li></ul><br><div id="isPasted"><strong>Preferred Experience and Training</strong></div><br><ul><li><div><span>Previous experience performing general ground maintenance, including tasks such as gardening, nursery management, turfgrass maintenance, and ground-keeping duties.</span></div></li></ul>Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of the results of a criminal record check.<br><div><br></div><div><strong>Starting pay for current City employees will be determined by City of Wichita policy or applicable bargaining unit agreement. </strong></div><div><br></div><br>
