Santa Barbara Foundation is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join their accounting team within the Finance and Administration Department. The role involves supporting the Finance Department with day-to-day operations and special projects as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Process cash receipts, including fund coding and batching
  • Monitor bank accounts for activity daily and provide Donor Relations team with incoming wire specifications for gift entry
  • Enter A/P invoices in FE NXT
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Update fee schedules and allocation pools related to Capital Preservation funds in FE
  • Prepare monthly giving group reports and other fund reports ad hoc
  • Prepare monthly budget to actual operating expense reports
  • Reconcile Gifts/Grants between FE, RE and FC databases monthly
  • Serve as a backup for Senior Accountant A/P processing and grant disbursement functions
  • Serve as backup to Donor Relations team for gift recording
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly fund holder statements
  • Assist in recordkeeping and reporting for external grants
  • Keep MS Outlook calendar populated as per SBF standard
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

Skills

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance preferred
  • Blackbaud Raiser's Edge (RE), Financial Edge (FE) and NPact Foundation Cloud (FC) experience is a plus
