The Commonwealth of PA is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer to join PennDOT District 9 and play a vital role in shaping Pennsylvania's transportation infrastructure. The role involves contributing to highway, bridge, and multi-modal projects while collaborating with both internal and external teams to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a variety of highway, bridge, and multi-modal projects that connect communities and propel economic growth
  • Work alongside seasoned professionals in both in-house and consultant design squads, expanding your knowledge and expertise
  • Utilize cutting-edge software and tools to conduct technical reviews, prepare project scopes, and manage consultant selection
  • Interact with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure the success of transportation initiatives
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of project plans and designs for highways, bridges, and multi-modal systems
  • Develop scopes of work, manage consultant selection processes, and collaborate with external partners
  • Analyze proposals, assess consultant qualifications, and identify potential project challenges
  • Work effectively with internal and external teams to ensure project clarity and success

Skills

  • Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
  • One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • This position requires possession of a valid driver's license
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions
