Chapman and Cutler LLP is seeking to hire a Contract Analyst. This role involves reviewing, editing, drafting, and managing contracts while collaborating with attorneys and clients to enhance the efficiency of legal services.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing a high volume of contracts with accuracy and thorough attention to detail while following specific legal and client guidelines
  • Revising and commenting on contracts to suggest alternate language based on guidelines and incorporating client requirements
  • Running redlines and comparing new contracts against precedent materials
  • Managing multiple review projects at once, meeting deadlines and prioritizing projects according to client and team requirements
  • Communicating with clients and counterparties to explain changes and comments in documents
  • Negotiating contract changes with third parties
  • Organizing project materials into repositories; profiling project information
  • Participating in training of new contract review team members
  • Serving as point of contact for questions and requests from client and team members
  • Assisting and continuously improving the ongoing process involved in contract review and providing suggestions to existing guidelines and templates
  • Participating in planning activities and meetings with primary stakeholders
  • Conferring with the Practice Innovations team to develop strategies that promote innovation and deliver improved processes and technology tools to Chapman attorneys and clients

Skills

  • Candidates must have a JD and at least one (1) year of experience in a professional setting, or a minimum of three (3) years' experience in a professional setting
  • Licensed attorneys are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Candidates with prior experience in contract analysis, law firm environments, or in-house legal departments will be prioritized
  • Critical thinking skills with ability to read dense materials with close attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and keen problem-solving skills
  • Pride of ownership with client service
  • The ability to communicate and discuss complex concepts with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Excellent time management and project management skills, with ability to work independently to meet objectives and deadlines
