Siemens is a global technology company focused on industry, infrastructure, transport, and healthcare. They are seeking an Electrical Engineer - GIS to analyze customer technical specifications and design product solutions for medium voltage switchgear, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently or as part of a project team to create all engineering documents for customer approval and manufacturing of Medium Voltage switchgear
  • Utilize the engineering switchgear configurator software to prepare, one-line drawings, control schematics, and bill of material with a high degree of accuracy
  • Be a technical project leader taking full ownership of the overall deliverables
  • Provide factory support during the manufacture of your projects to ensure that the final deliverable is true to your design
  • Provide technical support to our service teams and/or to customers as required

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • 1-4+ years of proven experience working with the design/configuration of electrical power distribution products and systems with emphasis on medium voltage switchgear
  • Strong working knowledge of standard protection and control technologies used in medium voltage distribution products with proven ability to share this knowledge with others
  • Electrical drafting experience with Engineering Base, ELCAD, and/or AutoCAD Electrical, or similar
  • Ability to analyze customer's technical specifications regarding the application of protection and control systems and apply appropriate product solutions to meet the customers' expectations in a cost-effective timely manner
  • Ability to read, understand one-line, and evaluate electrical schematics to identify errors or potential improvements
  • Ability to multitask and manage large workloads and business demands
  • An ideal candidate is detail-orientated, process-driven, and able to embrace a culture of quality
  • Must be in or willing to relocate to the Raleigh/Wendell, NC area
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
  • A master's degree in electrical engineering is a plus with extra consideration given if the degree concentration is in power systems
  • Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for MV Switchgear
  • Experience with electrical design for medium voltage switchgear, preference given to experience with Siemens switchgear
  • Experience with Gas Insulated Switchgear
  • Experience creating and working with smart CAD blocks
