**Experienced Data Analyst – Retail Merchandising and Analytics**

We're now seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join our Merchandise Planning Analytics team on a 6-month contract with the opportunity for extension or conversion.
**About the Role**
Our Merchandise Planning Analytics team is the backbone of our retail merchandising operations, providing critical support to our merchants and planners to optimize performance of our Front End (non-Pharmacy) businesses. As a Data Analyst, you'll play a vital role in managing reporting, analysis, and tool building for our Merchandising team, working closely with stakeholders to drive business growth and improve operational efficiency.
**Work Environment**
As a remote analyst, you'll have the flexibility to work from anywhere in the Central Standard Time (CST) zone, with a standard 8am-5pm schedule and a one-hour lunch break from 12pm-1pm. While we offer flexible working hours, we require a minimum of 30 hours per week to fulfill our business needs. **Key Responsibilities**
As a Data Analyst, your key responsibilities will include:
* **Own Brand Reporting and Analysis**: Own and manage reporting, recapping, tracking, and analysis of private label products, including ad-hoc analysis based on business needs.
* **Item-Level Historical Analysis and Recapping**: Conduct item-level historical analysis and recapping to identify trends and patterns.
* **Item-Level Future Looking Forecast**: Develop item-level future looking forecasts to inform business decisions.
* **Complex Excel Formulas and Data Synthesis**: Utilize complex Excel formulas and data synthesis techniques to extract meaningful insights from large data sets.
* **Executive Recaps and Presentations**: Develop clear and concise executive recaps and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
**Top Must-Have Skills**
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
* **Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 Years of Experience**: A bachelor's degree in analytics, data science, finance, financial analysis, assortment planning, retail, procurement/purchasing, or merchandising, with at least 3-5 years of experience in one or more of these fields.
* **Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills**: Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, paired with storytelling finesse to communicate complex insights to stakeholders.
* **Microsoft Excel Expertise**: Intermediate to advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, data synthesis, and data visualization.
* **Communication and Collaboration**: Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly both verbally and in writing, with strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
* **Retail Math Background**: Retail math background, including item-level forecasting, demand patterns, sell-through/sales/profit goals, sales by type, and AUR impacts.
* **Inventory and Sales Metrics**: Knowledge of inventory and sales metrics, including sales by type and AUR impacts.
**Top Nice-to-Have Skills**
While not essential, the following skills are highly desirable:
* **MBA or Quantitative Analytical Degree**: MBA or a degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), or other quantitative analytical fields.
* **Data Science Experience**: Experience in data science, including data visualization, machine learning, and statistical modeling.
* **Retail Experience**: Retail experience, including merchandising, assortment planning, or procurement/purchasing.
* **SQL Coding and Macro Building**: SQL coding, Microsoft Access, and macro building skills.
**Education and Experience Requirements**
To be considered for this role, you'll need:
* **3-5 Years of Experience in Analytics or Data Science**: 3-5 years of experience in analytics or data science, with a strong background in merchandising.
* **Bachelor's Degree**: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
