Service Express is a company that provides critical IT infrastructure support, and they are seeking a Field Service Engineer to support their customers in the Omaha area. The role involves traveling to customer sites to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair enterprise-level servers and storage hardware, ensuring exceptional customer service and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites within approximately a 100-mile radius to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Perform maintenance and repair on data center hardware, including mid-to-high end servers and storage devices
  • Provide exceptional service by responding quickly and efficiently to customer needs
  • Communicate clearly and confidently to ensure customers feel supported and their concerns are addressed
  • Identify and proactively escalate potential technical issues when needed
  • Assist with data center relocations and inventory audits
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues efficiently while managing multiple service calls
  • Interpret maintenance manuals and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve complex issues
  • Stay current on industry advancements through training and certification programs
  • Serve as a technical expert during sales calls when needed
  • Document and share resolutions to improve team knowledge and efficiency
  • Prepare thorough audits and maintain documentation of service calls
  • Proactively analyze and prepare for service calls to ensure quick and effective solutions
  • Maintain accurate records of service activities, expenses, and customer interactions
  • Collaborate with internal teams including purchasing, operations, and sales to deliver seamless support

Skills

  • Proven experience in a field service or customer-facing hardware repair role
  • Hands-on experience repairing and maintaining servers, storage devices, and data center equipment
  • Comfortable working independently and managing a regional service territory
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to drive regularly to customer locations
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks such as bending, kneeling, and reaching
  • A+ or Server+ certification preferred but not required
