INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I
The Employment Development Department (EDD) is one of the largest State departments in California, dedicated to connecting job seekers and employers. They are seeking an Information Technology Specialist I to support enterprise IT network engineering and operations, focusing on the implementation and maintenance of statewide IT network systems.
Responsibilities
- Support the EDD's enterprise IT Network engineering and operations, including hardware and software components and the confidential data managed by the organization
- Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and operations of statewide IT network systems
- Help shape the transformation into a customer-focused service organization by adhering to the Branch's cultural principles
- Foster positive communication and build relationships with vendors, colleagues, management, and clients
Skills
- Understanding of IP networking, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), routing, switching and ability to configure and troubleshoot network devices such as routers, switches, Wireless controllers and firewalls
- Skills in network security including firewalls, Virtualization Security and troubleshooting
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python and automation tools
- Ability to monitor, detect network bottlenecks and improve efficiency
- Cloud computing knowledge such as AWS, AZURE or Google cloud, concepts like virtualization and hybrid cloud computing
- Firm understanding of Layer 1 technologies such as Single, Multimode fiber and Layer 1 troubleshooting tools
