Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive, agent-facing Retention Specialist to support policy preservation and premium retention across both new business and renewals as well as support the California FAIR Plan depopulation initiative. This is an outbound, sales-oriented role that partners closely with agents, underwriting, and customer service teams to convert policies from pending cancellation or pending renewal status into active, paid, and in-good-standing policies. This role is highly cross-functional and focuses on preventing policy attrition before it occurs, rather than reacting to inbound service requests.

The Retention Specialist will also play a key role in supporting California FAIR Plan to Delos conversions, ensuring policies meet underwriting criteria and remain active post-bind.

Key Responsibilities:
Drive Policy Retention : Own outbound efforts to convert at-risk new business and renewal policies into active, paid policies, directly impacting new and retained premium. Resolve Cancellation Risks: Quickly identify and overcome barriers to policy retention (e.g., payment issues, documentation gaps, underwriting requirements) through targeted outreach. Analyze & Act on Trends: Identify patterns in new business and renewal cancellations and proactively address root causes to improve retention performance.

Agent & Partner Engagement: Build strong relationships with agents and internal teams to streamline communication, accelerate issue resolution, and drive policy completion. Support FAIR Plan Conversions: Drive new business growth by supporting the conversion of California FAIR Plan policies to Delos, including pre-underwriting alignment and readiness. Collaborate to Improve Outcomes: Partner cross-functionally with underwriting and service teams to remove friction, improve processes, and increase overall retention.

Key Metrics for Success:
Retention Premium: Volume of at-risk premium successfully converted back to active status

Outbound Activity: Number of proactive outbound engagements conducted monthly

Qualifications:
Active Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance producer license required in any U.S. state. If not currently licensed in California, candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Californianon-resident insurance license within 90 days of hire.
2–5+ years of experience in insurance operations, customer retention, or sales (P&C preferred)
Strong understanding of policy lifecycle, including underwriting, billing, and renewals
Experience in outbound engagement, account management, or retention-focused roles
Ability to analyze data and identify trends in policy risk and retention opportunities
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence agents and stakeholders
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple workflows and priorities
Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a focus on ownership and results

Compensation and Benefits
Competitive base salary + performance-based bonus
Remote flexibility across the U.S.
Unlimited PTO, including sick leave and company holidays
Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
401(k) retirement savings plan
Professional development support
