OpenText SAM Platform Specialist

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced OpenText Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist to support and eventually take ownership of a customer's enterprise Software Asset Management environment.

This is not a generic SAM support role. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing enterprise SAM environments, with strong exposure to OpenText / Micro Focus / legacy HP Asset Management ecosystems, and familiarity with the broader OpenText Digital Operations landscape, particularly SMAX and UCMDB.

The selected candidate will initially be involved during implementation and transition phases, with the long-term expectation of becoming the primary operational owner of the customer's SAM platform.

Key Responsibilities

SAM Platform Ownership

Support implementation, transition, and stabilization of the enterprise SAM platform

Take ownership of the customer's day-to-day Software Asset Management environment post implementation

Manage platform administration, operational governance, system health, and continuous optimization

Software Asset Lifecycle Management

Manage end-to-end software asset lifecycle activities including planning, acquisition, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, renewals, and retirement

Ensure software asset data accuracy, lifecycle governance, and operational compliance

License Management & Compliance

Manage software license compliance across subscription, perpetual, SaaS, cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments

Maintain entitlement repositories and reconcile discovered software against licensing positions

Generate audit-ready compliance reporting

Identify over-licensed / under-licensed conditions and optimization opportunities

Support software vendor audit readiness and governance

Discovery & Inventory Management

Manage software discovery across enterprise environments including on-premises, SaaS, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure

Support software normalization, version mapping, edition tracking, and inventory governance

Maintain discovery rules, signatures, and software catalog accuracy

Ensure data integrity between discovery sources and SAM repositories

OpenText Digital Operations Ecosystem

Work within interconnected OpenText Digital Operations platforms, particularly:

OpenText SAM / Asset Management

SMAX (Service Management Automation X)

UCMDB

Collaborate across IT operations, infrastructure, procurement, governance, and service management teams

Reporting & Stakeholder Management

Build dashboards and reporting for compliance, procurement, IT leadership, and operational stakeholders

Generate reporting around software utilization, compliance posture, asset discovery, and optimization insights

Work cross-functionally with internal and customer teams

Required Experience & Skills

Minimum 3+ years of hands-on Software Asset Management experience

Proven experience managing enterprise SAM environments in production

Strong hands-on experience with one or more of:

OpenText Asset Manager / OpenText SAM

Micro Focus Asset Manager

HP Asset Manager

Familiarity with OpenText Digital Operations ecosystem

Experience with:

SMAX

UCMDB

enterprise discovery / CMDB integrations

Strong understanding of:

software licensing models

entitlement reconciliation

compliance reporting

software vendor audit readiness

Experience across:

SaaS

cloud

hybrid

on-prem software environments

Knowledge of:

ISO/IEC 19770

ITIL SAM practices

Strong analytical, reporting, and stakeholder communication skills
