Photojournalist/Editor
TEGNA Inc. is a leading provider of local news and services, reaching over 100 million people monthly. They are seeking a Photojournalist/Editor for KREM 2 in Spokane, Washington, who will be responsible for shooting and editing quality stories for multiple newscasts and online platforms while working closely with the news team.
Responsibilities
- Use the latest photography and editing tools to tell great stories on deadline
- Produce original content for on-air and digital platforms that evoke emotion and tell compelling stories
- Use creative production techniques such as graphics and other forms of media (viewer pictures and videos, etc.) to enhance stories
- Cover breaking news, general assignment news, weather, feature stories and sports
- Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions and suggest story ideas
- Work closely with producers, MSJs and fellow photojournalists/editors daily
- Operate live equipment (i.e. live trucks and Dejeros)
- Perform other tasks as required by Chief Journalist or other members of the news leadership team
Skills
- Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
- Ability to create/edit material for on-air and web, while meeting deadlines
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, nightside, holidays and overtime as needed
- Ability to be in on-call rotation

- 1-3 years of experience as a news photojournalist/editor
- Knowledge of Sony cameras, along with wireless microphones, TVU or Dejero live units
- Experience with video editing software; knowledge of video editing using proper sequencing and audio levels
- Working knowledge or operation of a live truck
