Program Coordinator I
Rutgers University-Camden is a diverse, research-intensive campus seeking a Program Coordinator to advance student achievement. This role involves managing academic support services, overseeing tutor training, and collaborating with campus partners to enhance student success.
Responsibilities
- Lead the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of peer tutors
- Manage early alerts and faculty referrals
- Coordinate targeted academic interventions that support student learning and retention
- Provide information on available services, oversee appointment management, and monitor the use of CLASS facilities
- Develop and organize tutor training in alignment with College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) standards
- Maintain certification and assessment documentation
- Prepare statistical reports that inform program effectiveness and continuous improvement
- Provide support to the Course Assistant/Supplemental Instruction Program and Emerging Scholars programs
- Organize CLASS workshops and programming
- Collaborate with campus partners to enhance student support
- Represent the Center at campus and community events
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of a student-focused center
- Experience in academic support services or student success programs, preferably in a higher education setting
- Ability to plan and deliver workshops and programming activities that promote student engagement and academic success
- Strong work ethic, with effective organizational and time management skills to coordinate multiple activities and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with students, tutors, faculty, and staff
- Experience supervising student employees or peer tutors
- Proficiency in data management and reporting, including maintaining accurate records and preparing statistical reports
- Problem-solving and intervention skills to address student learning concerns and coordinate appropriate support
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in supporting students from a variety of backgrounds
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other campus systems (Navigate, Smartsheet, Outlook, Qualtrics, Canva, social media)
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Familiarity with CRLA guidelines and best practices in tutor training and certification
- Experience with early alert systems and academic intervention strategies
- Knowledge of supplemental instruction models and tutoring programs
- Experience with Navigate360 and learning management systems (Canvas)
