[Remote] Bioinformatics Scientist
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Boston Children's Hospital is dedicated to supporting basic, translational, and clinical research through advanced digital tools and technologies. The Bioinformatics Scientist will collaborate with researchers to build pipelines for analyzing and sharing bioinformatics data, while providing computational support and training to staff and researchers.
Responsibilities
- Providing computational support by applying a wide range of bioinformatics tools and technologies; With supervision and direction, completing assignments in the required timeframe while consistently adhering to standard operating procedures and best practices; adapting to a changing environment, resolving problems associated with assignments and seeking supervisor assistance when needed
- Routinely co-leading or participating in research computing projects with other members from the BCH research community; setting goals and objectives for projects and demonstrating achievement of those goals and objectives; coordinating work activities with other stakeholders; contributing to the resulting presentations and/or publications
- Training staff and researchers; effectively tailoring presentations
- Communicating scientific findings clearly through presentations, email, memos, and scientific publications; presenting progress at project and departmental meetings; facilitating productive discussions and problem-solving
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics
- Minimum of one year of advanced bioinformatics experience
- Extensive knowledge of the use of open-source bioinformatics software and pipelines in high-performance computing (HPC) environments
- Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related preferred
