[Remote] Frontline Underwriter

As a Frontline Underwriter, you will be responsible for reviewing merchant applications, analyzing bank statements, and ensuring high-quality underwriting decisions to protect portfolio health.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate incoming merchant applications for completeness and readiness
- Spot red flags and prepare files for deeper underwriting
- Deliver high-quality reviews within daily and weekly SLAs
- Communicate with brokers and internal teams to close gaps fast
- Review and verify merchant submissions for completeness and accuracy, ensuring packages meet intake standards and are SOP-compliant
- Analyze bank statements and business documents and identify and escalate discrepancies or concerns to Underwriters
- Maintain data integrity in CRM and document systems and enter information accurately and clearly mark incomplete submissions
- Communicate effectively with brokers and internal stakeholders and respond quickly to missing info and maintain a strong, service-oriented tone
- Meet key performance targets
- Hit a minimum of 70% of top producer benchmarks for volume, accuracy and turnaround time
- Maintain an error rate of 4% or lower
- Maintain an average processing time of 24 minutes per submission
- Performance is assessed monthly, with feedback given daily, weekly, or as needed
Skills
- Have strong attention to detail and enjoy working with financial data
- Can review bank statements with confidence and spot anomalies quickly
- Bring a positive attitude and learn fast in a remote, high-volume environment
- Are comfortable with daily targets and quality-based performance metrics
- Have prior experience in merchant cash advance (MCA) or are eager to gain it
- 0–1+ years of underwriting, financial analysis, or small business lending experience
- Comfortable reviewing financial statements and business documentation
- Familiarity with MS Office, especially Excel
- CRM and document management experience (Centrex or similar a plus)
- Familiarity with AI tools to improve efficiency and accuracy in workflows
- Typing speed and digital workflow agility (you'll complete a typing and UW assessment during the interview process)
- QA or financial statement or document review background is a strong plus
- Bachelor's degree not required - we care more about your mindset and skill set
