Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Medavie Health Services is a national health solutions partner dedicated to improving the wellbeing of Canadians. They are seeking a Group Underwriter to prepare financial statements for group health, life, and disability income lines of business while ensuring underwriting targets are met for growth and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups in accordance with financial agreements
  • Ensure the wording on the financial agreements is sound
  • Ensure underwriting targets are met for growth and profitability
  • Development and ongoing maintenance of direct relationships with sales, clients and producers; and
  • Continuous dealings with internal underwriting staff and other internal customers (ie: Finance, Case management, Group Admin), the agent/broker/consultant network and policyholders

Skills

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or computer science
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Group Underwriting (recommended)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed with high accountability and responsibility
  • Excellent reasoning, judgment, and decision-making abilities
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered as an asset
