Job Description Summary:

Job Description:

The Senior Research is an early-career investigator responsible for leading applied research and evaluation projects using real-world data, with a strong emphasis on electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) and claims data.

This role requires deep technical expertise in clinical and administrative data and clinical processes, especially at community health centers. The individual will serve as a hands-on analyst, working closely with a Senior Health Services Researcher to execute high-quality studies that inform primary care delivery, workforce development, and patient outcomes in community-based settings, particularly Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).

The position emphasizes applied, implementation-oriented research, with a focus on translating complex data into actionable insights for clinical and operational decision-making.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical & Claims Data Analysis
• Serve as a hands-on analyst on multiple projects using EMR/EHR and claims data.
• Extract, clean, transform, and analyze structured and unstructured clinical and administrative data.
• Apply advanced statistical and epidemiologic methods, including:
• Longitudinal analysis
• Multilevel modeling
• Regression and quasi-experimental designs
• Ensure high data quality, maintaining 65% accuracy in data preparation, documentation, and analytic outputs.
• Develop reproducible analytic workflows using tools such as Python, R, SAS, or equivalent.

Research Execution
• Lead major components of 62 complex research or evaluation projects annually.
• Apply 62 distinct research methodologies annually (e.g., quantitative, mixed methods, implementation evaluation).
• Conduct analyses that meet standards for peer-reviewed publication.
• Collaborate closely with senior researchers to design studies grounded in epidemiologic principles.
• Contribute to interpretation of findings within clinical and operational contexts.

EMR/EHR & Healthcare Data Expertise
• Work with clinical and IT teams to understand data architecture, workflows, and limitations of EMR/EHR and claims data.
• Use real-world data to evaluate:
• Care delivery processes
• Patient outcomes
• Quality improvement initiatives
• Demonstrate familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., ICD, CPT, LOINC).

Research Writing & Dissemination
• Serve as first author on 62 manuscripts annually, drafting all major sections with minimal guidance.
• Contribute substantive feedback to 63 co-authored manuscripts annually.
• Lead 62 research reports or presentations annually for internal or external audiences.
• Present findings at 1 national or professional conference annually.
• Translate analytic findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.

Proposal Development & Partnerships
• Lead at least 1 small proposal annually (e.g., pilot, seed funding, or letter of intent).
• Identify 2 64 funding opportunities annually aligned with research priorities.
• Contribute 30% content to 62 complex proposals annually.
• Initiate or support at least 1 external partnership annually

Project & Operational Management
• Support development and management of project budgets under guidance of senior staff.
• Allocate resources effectively across analytic tasks and project timelines.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to data quality, timelines, and deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines, IRB requirements, and data governance standards.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and appropriate handling of sensitive clinical data.

Team Collaboration & Support
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including clinicians, analysts, educators, and external partners.
• Provide guidance to Research Associates on analytic tasks and data management.
• Contribute to a strong, methodologically rigorous, and collaborative research culture
