TAX TECHNICIAN I, BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is seeking ambitious and driven individuals to join their team. The Tax Technician I will learn all facets of registration activities relating to private party purchases of vehicles, vessels, aircraft, and mobilehomes, while performing account registration and maintenance duties.
Responsibilities
- Screening source documents from other CDTFA divisions
- Screening source documents from third-party agencies
- Determining if a possible use tax liability exists
- Creating new accounts
- Sending contact letters
- Scanning and uploading documents into our computer system
- Creating and verifying use tax clearance forms
- Reviewing the less difficult and less complex claims for exemption from use tax
- Reviewing and processing taxpayer correspondence
- Reviewing and determining the accuracy of taxpayer information
- Searching and verifying taxpayer information using CDTFA systems
- Searching and verifying taxpayer information using authorized external databases
- Reviewing and/or updating taxpayer’s account information
- Entering required data and/or information into the registration system
- Initiating appropriate system generated letters
- Processing requests for information from external agency systems
- Securing and forwarding confidential records for destruction
- Training other team members on these duties
Skills
- All applicants will be considered, however SROA/Surplus candidates will be given priority

- This employer participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S
- Position requires employee to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a background investigation
- Travel may be required up to five percent (5%) of the time
