Telecommunications Analyst I (Collaboration Engineer)
Rutgers University is seeking a Telecommunications Analyst I (Collaboration Engineer) for the Telecommunications department within the Office of Information Technology. This role involves providing engineering support for Cisco Unified Communications and USB-based platforms across all campuses, including designing, configuring, installing, managing, and troubleshooting video conferencing hardware and software.
Responsibilities
- Assists with the Rutgers Unified Communication endpoint maintenance, upgrades, and expansions
- Participates in and oversees site assessment and system staging, testing and deployment while working closely with other OIT staff members and technicians
- Meets with and provides guidance to university departments regarding their unified communications needs while offering and implementing technical solutions
- Prepares and provides project and equipment information including cost estimates to the departmental clients
- Effectively utilizes network testing equipment for troubleshooting
- Monitors and utilizes Unified Communications monitoring tools
- Updates documentation and reports as required
- Provides onsite support as well as training to end-users and departmental staff in NJ
- Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field. Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements
- A working knowledge of a large video enterprise infrastructure that includes the design, configuration, installation and troubleshooting of Cisco Unified Communications and Collaboration system and end devices, as well as data networking
- Hands-on knowledge of telecommunications, video technologies and their applications
- Ability to Code Lightware, Javascript, Cisco Endpoint Web and local Administration, on site UC troubleshooting
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Demonstrated knowledge of Cisco Video/USB based installation and maintenance techniques
- Knowledge of Cisco Telepresence/Video Endpoints, Cisco WebEx, Zoom/MRA, Microsoft Teams, Quality of Service (QoS) related to Video, CUCM, UC testing, monitoring, diagnostics and reporting tools
- Willingness to Train IT staff and end users
