Wordpress Developer - Contract to Hire

About the Role

We're a growing team looking to expand our web development capacity. Our current developer is maxed out and we need someone who can step in, get up to speed quickly, and become a reliable extension of the team.

You'll start with a defined project — consider it a paid assessment. If the work is solid, we move you into a consistent weekly hourly commitment so you're a guaranteed resource, not a one-off hire.

The Stack

- Backend / Hosting: Google Cloud Platform

- CMS: WordPress — transitioning from Elementor to Kadence + Gutenberg

- Direction: We're integrating AI tooling into our workflow, and we expect you to be comfortable in that environment

What We're Looking For

This is the part that matters most: you need to actually know what you're doing.

You can use AI tools and "vibe code" — we're not anti-AI. But you must be able to read, understand, debug, and own the code without AI doing your thinking for you. Your skills will be assessed directly by a senior WordPress developer who will ask real technical questions and evaluate your actual depth. If your skills are mostly AI-generated, that will become obvious quickly.

Specifically, you should be comfortable with:

- WordPress theme development and the block editor (Gutenberg)

- Kadence theme and Kadence Blocks

- Maintaining Elementor sites

- Google Cloud Platform basics (deployment, environments, storage)

- PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript as they apply to WordPress development

- Troubleshooting and debugging — not just building

Communication

Strong written and spoken English is required. We move fast and communicate often, so clarity matters.

Bonus: If you speak Portuguese, you'll integrate with our existing team immediately and that will absolutely work in your favor.
