2026 Summer Intern - Autonomous Vehicle, Sensor Hardware and Technology Development (Bachelors Degree)
General Motors is a leading automotive company focused on creating a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion. They are seeking a Summer Intern for their Autonomous Vehicle, Sensor Hardware and Technology Development team to assist in developing engineering designs and collaborating with various teams to ensure performance specifications are met.
Responsibilities
- Develops engineering designs (including subsystems) and implements engineering changes
- Develops requirements & subsystem technical specifications as required
- Execute sensor-level tests on prototype vehicles
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and integration teams to ensure performance meets specifications
- Perform bench and lab testing, debug hardware issues, and document results in collaboration
- Support integration, calibration, and environmental operating domain evaluation for cameras, radars and lidars
Skills
- Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Computer Science or Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics, System Design, Mechanical, Chemical or equivalent)
- Must be graduating between December 2026 and August 2027
- Coursework or project experience in Python or Matlab or embedded microcontrollers
- Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week
- Basic understanding of automotive control systems, ADAS features, sensors, or electronics
- Familiarity with model-based design tools (MATLAB/Simulink) and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python
- Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship
