Associate, Application Engineer
BlackRock is a leading financial technology company dedicated to helping people achieve financial well-being. As an Associate Engineer on the Aladdin Engineering team, you will design, develop, and maintain applications that support investment workflows and risk analytics.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Java-based applications and microservices within the Aladdin ecosystem
- Implement RESTful APIs, integrate with distributed systems, and ensure high availability and performance
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers in an Agile environment
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following SOLID principles and best practices
- Participate in code reviews, unit/integration testing, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Work with cloud-native technologies (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker) and CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments
- Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to system reliability and scalability
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Strong proficiency in Java (Java 11 or higher) and object-oriented programming concepts
- Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and Hibernate/JPA
- Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and microservices architecture
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL)
- Exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and version control (Git)
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- Knowledge of Kafka, event-driven architecture, or messaging systems
- Familiarity with Java testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito)
- Interest in financial services and investment technology
