Field Service Technician
BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world, seeking a Field Service Technician to provide technical support for their Pyxis automated dispensing systems. The role involves remote and on-site support, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with hospital requirements while maintaining a focus on customer service.
Responsibilities
- Provide remote and on-site technical support for BD Pyxis automated dispensing systems located within hospitals and other healthcare facilities within the region and in accordance with our customer support agreements to include DHA/DoD facilities
- Perform remediation, configuration, and updates for medical devices, software, and networking systems
- Conduct routine checks to verify proper functionality after setup
- Troubleshoot device and network issues, resolving technical problems independently or escalating complex cases
- Provide customer-focused technical support in a professional, responsive, and resourceful manner
- Provide accurate and timely documentation that details field activity, expenses, time distribution and other information as required
- Maintain compliance with hospital vendor credentialing requirements
- Follow calibration protocols for servicing equipment
- Maintain company assets (car, tools, and inventories) securely and in working order
- Possess and maintain a solid understanding of corporate and service department procedures and policies, including customer complaint handling and Medical Device Reporting
- Able to work independently and in a team environment, and engage/call out to team leadership for sophisticated solving and resolution of issues as needed
Skills
- High School diploma
- Ability to travel extensively for field-based service assignments
- 1+ year of technical experience required
- Prior military experience in electronics or IT roles are encouraged to apply
- Strong troubleshooting abilities in electronics, mechanics, and electromechanical systems
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
- Must live within one hour of a major airport for travel efficiency
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Must maintain personal parts inventory, sourcing from approved vendors
- Open availability Monday–Friday; work occurs ~30 hours per week, plus travel time
- Position requires some nights and weekends based on customer needs
- Travel is regional, national, and local, with work scheduled primarily during weekdays
- Duties may require compliance with hospital vaccine and credentialing requirements
- Associate degree in biomedical, IT, electronics, or a related field preferred
- Prior experience in government or VA/DoD healthcare systems strongly preferred
- Experience in IT support, electronics, biomedical engineering, or pharmacy technology is a plus
- Familiarity with automation equipment in healthcare settings preferred
