Arup is a global consultancy that guides, plans, and designs the future of the built environment. They are seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to design power distribution and lighting systems, conduct technical studies, and collaborate with other disciplines on various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design power distribution, lighting controls, grounding and lightning protection systems with respect to buildings and infrastructure projects
  • Short circuit, over-current coordination, load and arc flash studies
  • Lighting photometric calculations
  • Assign circuitry for Power and Lighting devices
  • Technical report writing
  • Work on projects using Revit MEP
  • Contribute to the development of reports and electrical calculations
  • Work with people from other disciplines and/or vendors to gain knowledge on new subjects
  • Attend meetings - listen, ask questions. Be involved in discussions with other disciplines and Architects to gain knowledge & experience

Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Architectural Engineering (BSAE), or similar degree
  • Demonstrated interest in electrical engineering with a focus on power systems as applied to building design
  • Ability to thrive in fast paced environments with strong planning and organizational skills to manage shifting priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and accessibly, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and proactive mindset, with the ability to take initiative, solve problems creatively, and collaborate effectively
  • The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based collaboration
  • Comfortable presenting ideas and technical concepts to colleagues and clients at all levels
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future
  • EIT/ FE certification
  • Experience with Revit MEP, AGI 32, SKM Power Tools
  • Coursework or experience in building systems design, electrical power systems design, control systems, electric machines, medium voltage design, and familiarity with relevant codes and standards
  • Internship experience in a consulting firm, particularly with a focus on building electrical power system design
  • Exposure to electrical testing practices
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability as evidenced by extracurricular activities or related projects
  • Academic research, coursework, or other experience with alternative energy systems and emerging technologies to the construction industry
  • Experience with automation or machine learning applications
  • Evidence of teamwork and leadership such as professional accomplishment, honor society, or student organizations
