Junior Hydrogeologist
WSP is a leading professional services firm dedicated to shaping communities and advancing humanity. They are seeking a Junior Hydrogeologist to join their Mining Hydrogeology team, contributing to impactful groundwater projects in the mining industry through site investigations, data analysis, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Travel to exciting domestic and international locations for hydrogeological field assignments
- Conduct site investigations, including supervising drilling, logging drill core/chips, and performing hydrogeological tests (packer testing, pumping tests, rising/falling head tests)
- Install monitoring wells, pumping wells, and vibrating wire piezometers, and sample wells for water quality purposes
- Compile, analyze, and interpret field data for conceptual hydrogeological models
- Support analytical and numerical seepage analyses for open pits and underground mines
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate hydrogeological findings into broader engineering solutions
- Contribute to technical reports, proposals, and specifications that influence project decisions
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
- Interest in developing expertise in hydrogeology within the mining industry
- Comfortable with fieldwork and working autonomously in diverse environments
- Strong organizational skills for prioritization and record-keeping
- Familiarity with groundwater monitoring, data interpretation, and hydrogeological modeling tools is an asset
