Role Description

This is a part-time remote role for a Music Critic. As a critic, you will be responsible for reviewing albums, singles, and live performances, writing engaging and thoughtful articles, researching music trends, and staying informed about emerging and popular artists. Additional responsibilities include contributing to news features, curating music recommendations, and providing well-rounded critiques of various genres and bands.

Qualifications

Strong expertise in Music Criticism and knowledge of diverse music genres and bands

Exceptional Writing and News Writing skills for creating engaging and analytical content

Passion for music and a broad understanding of industry trends and history

Strong research skills to produce well-informed and credible critiques

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment

Prior experience in journalism, music blogging, or related fields is a plus

Bachelor’s degree in Music, Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred

Your response must be professional, objective, and address the following four mandatory areas for each track:

1. Composition & Technical Execution: Analyze the arrangement, production quality, and musicality.

2. Genre Context & Artistic Merit: Evaluate the song’s place within its specific genre and its unique perspective.

3. Target Audience & Marketability: Identify who the song is for and its commercial or critical viability.

4. Does it meet tv/film requirements, if not why. (Do not critic visual images, only sound, the music).
